Course Description

This workshop is designed for individuals who are new to FortiManager or those who haven’t used it in a while. It covers the core concepts of using FortiManager to centrally manage multiple FortiGate devices.

The course prepares you for the key topics of the NSE 5 - FortiManager Administrator exam. However, additional study is necessary for other topics included in the certification course. Successfully passing the exam will earn you the corresponding exam badge.

This course is part of the FCP Secure Networking certification track.

Who Should Attend

The workshop is designed for professionals responsible for day-to-day management of FortiGate security policies using FortiManager.

Agenda

  • Introduction to FortiManager & ADOMs - Grasp FortiManager’s essential features, ADOM/device modes, workspace locking, and admin‑access controls, so you can quickly configure, secure, and align FortiManager with your network’s use cases.
  • Device Registration - Learn how to register FortiGate units with multiple methods, interpret import reports, and troubleshoot basic discovery issues.
  • Device Level Configuration & Installation - Configure device‑level changes, view managed FortiGate status, deploy updates, and use revision history for troubleshooting.
  • Policies & Objects - Learn to configure, manage, and install policies and objects on FortiManager and deploy them to FortiGate.

Prerequisites

We recomment the following knowledge prior to attending this course:

  • Knowledge of firewall concepts in an IPv4 network.
  • Familiarity with all topics in the FortiOS Administrator course.
  • Basic understanding of network management systems.

Key Objectives

  • Describe the key FortiManager features and concepts.
  • Create ADOMs to support multiple customers on a single FortiManager.
  • Modify concurrent ADOM access by using workspace modes.
  • Identify the synchronization states and manage the revision history of managed devices.
  • Manage firewall policies across multiple FortiGate devices using policy packages with shared and dynamic objects.
  • Explain the Fortinet Security Fabric with FortiManager.
