Course Description

This workshop is ideal for individuals who are either new to FortiGate or returning after a break. It provides a comprehensive overview of the core security and networking features essential for businesses and resellers.

Led by experienced trainers with deep product expertise and industry insight, the course is designed to accommodate a broad audience.

It focuses on key topics covered in the FCP FortiGate 7.4 Administrator exam. While it offers a strong foundation, additional study is recommended to cover all areas of the certification. Successful completion of the exam will earn participants the official certification badge.

This course contributes to the FCP certification tracks in Network Security, Security Operations, and Public Cloud Security.

Day 1:

Introduction to FortiGate - Learn about FortiGate administration through the CLI and GUI. You will also backup and restore a configuration file, as well as create a new administrator account and modify administrator access permissions.
Security Fabric - Learn what is and how to configure the Fortinet Security Fabric and access and understand the physical and logical topology views.
Firewall Policies - Learn what a firewall policy is and how best to configure them and then perform various tests to confirm that traffic is matching the appropriate firewall policies.
Routing - Determine and understand how to configure router settings and test scenarios to learn how FortiGate makes routing decisions.
Web Filtering - Learn how web filtering takes place on a FortiGate and how to configure a web filtering profile. This includes configuring a FortiGuard category-based filter, applying the web filter profile on a firewall policy, testing the configuration, and basic troubleshooting.

Day 2:

Intrusion Prevention (IPS) - Learn and configure the FortiGate's intrusion prevention system. Experience firsthand with a vulnerability scanner and custom script to generate attacks on a FortiGate secured network.
Application Control - Learn how to apply application control in both profile-based mode and policy-based mode to apply an appropriate action to specific application traffic.
IPsec VPN - Learn and configure site-to-site IPsec VPN tunnels between two FortiGate devices.
SD-WAN- Learn how SD-WAN works on a FortiGate and configure SD-WAN load balancing.
Introduction to FortiAnalyzer and FortiManager - Extend the Fortinet Security Fabric with FortiAnalyzer and FortiManager to simplify and reduce administration overhead.

Prerequisites

We recommend participants have at least:

Knowledge of network protocols.
Basic understanding of firewall concepts.

We recommend completing the Fortinet Networking Fundamentals free self-paced course if you do not have the above prerequisite knowledge.

Participants must bring with them:

A laptop with an up-to-date browser that supports HTML 5.
Microsoft Teams (for remote attendance).
